We moved to be able to send our child to a Kyrene school. After two years in the Tempe Elementary School District, we were very dissatisfied!!! Our move was worth it. For the first time, he is in an "A" rated school with quality teachers and academics. The Leader in Me program is fantastic! Expectations are set high for staff as well as students. The PTO was just formed last year and as a result it was a bit of a scramble and learning curve. I'm looking forward to more parent/community outreach and volunteerism as the organization grows.

Very disappointed this school year with the school, not our child's teacher who was pretty great. In general, this is a mediocre school who celebrates their mediocrity as excellence. While they do have some excellent programs, such as the Leader in Me, the academics pale in comparison to other schools in the district and in the Phoenix-Chandler-Gilbert metro. Test scores that equate to a B, while good, are not the same as the excellence of an A. Front office staff is typically rude to parents, even those parents who are coming in to volunteer. I believe parent involvement is key to the success of the kids and school. PTA/PTO are typically the key to the involvement door. This PTO is very exclusive, certainly not inclusive. So if you are an outsider who has any gifts, talents or ideas to share - don't bother, because you will NOT be included. We were even told point blank that our help was not wanted. It's sad because this diverse neighborhood school has so much potential.

Academic programs are good, my son took part in many extracurricural activitis like paining, soccer, etc. My wife regularly volunteered in the class. We are happy with this school.

The quality of academic programs is solid to good for AZ. That means anyone moving from the northeast, or any other area of the country will be severely disappointed in the lack of rigor in the academic program; both here and in the state as a whole.

Poor quality academic program. We are from the East Coast and are used to a much higher quality education. Needless to say we've since put our son intoa private school.

I love this school. My oldest daughter started out in Mirada in First grade and was behind. With the help of Mirada and Sylvan she got caught up in no time. The teachers were great when it came to helping her catch up.

I am speaking mostly from the short experience I have had at this school, my son was in a multiage class and after having moved from another state, I tried to aquire help several times from his instructor and the best advice she could give me was to take him out of the school if I was not happy, instead of tackling the issue, she was combative stating I was disrespectful of her time, because I was asking for insight on how to improve and motivate my child who had done so well prior to the move. The overall school I think seems like a nice campus, office staff is kind.

My family was relocated to AZ, and prior to relocation I was doing much research on a great school for my child, I found this school to be somewhat of what I was looking for, however in my particular situation, I think the school is great, but our child's instructor doesn't seem to understand the urgency or our request for assistance to ensure a great future at this school for our child. Overall it seems like a nice school with a nice PTA. Hope things work itself out for us.

I love Mirada. I think the principal Barbara Johnson has done a fabulous job. I am so happy with the staff here. The staff are dedicated to the students. My daughter loves going to school there. She is very attached to her teacher who is a fantastic role model for other teachers.

We have 2 kids at Mirada. My son has been through 2 years of the gifted program and is reading 4 grade levels above. His proficiency at math is excellent. My daughter just finished 1st grade and received excellent 1-on-1 help with her reading and continues to improve on all fronts. Excellent support and involvement at all levels.

I am one of the families who is on the open enrollment, and my son has been there since kindergarten. I have been very pleased with the learning curriculum, the social environment, the special events that the school has and the opportunity we have to be part of it all.
